The Best Spicy Dishes

14 05 2008

Every man wants spicy and hot food although very few in the world have the right ingredients to make it tasty and scrumptious. Here is a short list of what I think are the best spicy foods all over the world.

10.Tom Yum from Thailand

The great thing about Tom Yum is that it’s not only spicy but it’ also sour which makes the contrasting tastes wonderfully complement each other. The dish either features chicken or pork while it gets its spicy and hot taste from the renowned Thai Bird’s Eye chili. If you think you’ve had enough of Thailand think again because this dish will make you get off your seat.

9.Shrimp Creole from US

This dish is flavored by red and green peppers, tomatoes, shrimp and chicken. Basically, the Shrimp Creole dish is a staple if you want to burn your heels on the table.

8. Papa a la Huancaina from Peru

Peru is more than being Inca and the Machu Pichu since the famous Papa a la Huancaina. This dish is a salad that has boiled yellow potatoes in them. What makes this food sizzling hot is its Huancaina sauce that is usually served with lettuce, black olives, white corn kernels and hard-boiled egg quarters. The tasty and hot sauce is made by combining ingredients such as fresh cheese, evaporated milk, salt and the renowned Amarillo chili pepper.

7. Lo Bok with Sichuan Peppercorns from China

China is renowned for its exquisite cuisine which spans several millennia already. The great thing about this dish is that it uses sweetness and spiciness to make it such a scrumptious and tasty treat. Basically, this dish has a numbing taste that is short of making your forget your real name once you eat it.

6.Bibimbap with Kimchi from South Korea

Needless to say, kimchi is always synonymous to Korea but then again there is always a way to spice up traditional cuisines out there. This dish is composed of pickled cabbage, garlic, chili, onion and ginger. Kimchi has to be prepared by putting it inside a pot while leaving it fermenting for several months. That’s an ancient way of preserving foods prior to the invention of refrigerators. If you can handle a slightly unpleasant smell and ultra-hot taste then you should go for this one.

5.Suicide Chicken Wings from the US

I personally love chicken wings although the Suicide chicken wings dish is certainly something out of the ordinary. It has a mouth-watering combination of Tabasco sauce, hot pepper flakes and chopped chili. If you’re really a gastronomic adventurer, this one can make you re-think about spicy foods.

4.Jerk Chicken from the Caribbean

The Caribbean is a melting pot of all sorts of spices available that’s why I wasn’t surprised when they came up with the Jerk Chicken dish. When it comes to the ingredients, the aforementioned has the Jamaican allspice, cloves, cinnamon, scallions, nutmeg, thyme and garlic. In a nutshell it’s a grilled dish that tastes even better with beer.

3.Wot from Ethiopia

The only entry from Africa, the Wot is an Ethiopian delicacy that is basically a stew loaded with onions and garlic. It is cooked by putting hot spices in it while the chicken is left for hours in order for that rear-kicking taste to fully develop.

2.Vindaloo from India

When you talk about Indian cuisine the first thing that will get inside your head would be curried foods. The great thing about curried dishes is that they’re not only hot but they are also flavorful. The Vindaloo is hot because of its spiced up because it’s marinated in loads of spices before being tenderized by vinegar.

1.Sambal Oelek from Indonesia

The hottest food in the list here comes not surprisingly from Indonesia. The tastiest and hottest version has habanero peppers, cayenne pepper, Madame Jeanette peppers, Bird’s Eye Chilis, Spanish peppers, and the near-lethal naga jolokia.

2008 Chevrolet Malibu vs. 2008 Honda Accord

14 05 2008

Everybody loves the midsized sedan because of the safety features that it offers, space, fuel efficiency and the overall impeccable exterior design. Needless to say, there had been thousands of people from all over the world who have appreciated the craftsmanship that it displays. Basically, the year 2008 saw the emergence of the affordable midsized sedan and in this category the 2008 Chevrolte Malibu and the 2008 Honda Accord stood out.

Needless to say, both cars have so far outclassed the competition by a comfortable margin although when you compare one from the other, the gap cannot get any closer.
So, if you would like to pick up just one from both cars what would you choose? If you’re undecided that’s pretty normal and that is the reason why I am writing this post.

2008 Chevrolet Malibu

Price: 19000 USD

The 2008 Malibu from General Motors uses the Epsilon platform which can also be seen on the Saab, Pontiac and Opel cars. Basically, this car shows off a 2.4 liter, 16 valve engine that is quite impressive for a car of this dimension. When you go behind this car’s steering wheels, it’ll take you around 8.0 seconds to go from 0-60 mph. The great thing about the engine is that it enables its prospective owner to save gas which is very important considering how expensive gas prices had been.

On the other hand, let’s talk about the Malibu’s exterior. The car’s grille has glossy and metallic finish that can surely attract anyone’s attention. Apart from that, it has excellent sides that cover the fender flares. When you go to the interior, there’s no doubt that there’s just so much detail that you can’t ignore. Actually, the car has a spacious and pleasant appeal when you check out its interior. Moreover, it offers great maneuverability which you can appreciate especially when you have to cram in several people.

The Malibu’s multimedia artillery isn’t too bad either. It has the standard MP3 and CD player although I expected something more than the usual stuff that you can find out there. The 2008 Chevrolet Malibu is a serious car that is pretty damn cheap for the features it offers on the table. Although it isn’t a sports car you’ll be amazed by how well it copes during long drives. Apart from that, the car reduces noises very well which was something I didn’t expect when I first saw this car.

The 2008 Honda Accord

Price: 20000

Actually, I am a big fan of the Honda Accord and I have seen how well it has progressed over the years. The car has increased its size considerably and consequently improving its stability and cornering abilities. The latest version of the Honda Accord has a 2.4 liter and 16-valve engine which can manage as much as 177 horsepower. Apart from that, it has a decent and above-average showing in the acceleration category pegged at around 8.9 seconds to reach 0-60 mph.

The exterior of the Honda Accord features a well-crafted grille and automatic headlights. Moreover, it has also increased its size while making it look a lot better. The cuts, contours and lines of the Accord have improved dramatically compared to the other versions of the previous years. On the other hand, the Accord boasts of enough space when you get inside. Moreover, it has finely weaved cloth that covers the whole cabin. Just like the Chevrolet Malibu, the Accord does not have much to offer when you talk about its entertainment system.

Overall, both cars are tied in every category although the Chevrolet Malibu certainly offered more because it’s slightly cheaper and its performance is ahead by a little. So there you go, I’d give it to the Malibu which is only a point ahead.
