Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator

22 05 2008

Everybody loves a well-crafted and spacious SUV and needless to say the Cadillac and the Lincoln brands are on top of the heap in this car category for years. From these automakers have spawned two of the best SUVs of the last decade and these are the Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator. Meanwhile, these big cars have been making waves for quite a while now and maybe it’s time that we dissect both of them and decide which one is the best.

2008 Cadillac Escalade

Price: 58000 USD

When you talk about big cars such as the Escalade, the first thing that you will notice instantly is its power and at 403 horsepower, this car has a lot of it. Its engine is the 6.2 liter Vortec V8 and it’s not surprising how powerful it actually is. Meanwhile, if you’re curious about its acceleration capabilities, the Cadillac Escalade can reach 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds, not bad for a car this size huh? Aside from that, the Escalade has been equipped with an excellent braking system that can withstand the rigors of daily driving.

When you go to its exterior, this Cadillac car is easily noticeable because of its chrome grille and overall brilliant lines and contours. Meanwhile, the Cadillac Escalade does not only command attention because of its size, but more so because of how tall it actually is. After seeing the exterior, the Escalade has a warm and cozy interior that has enough room to make you fall asleep. I’m not saying that it is boring, but it’s just too comfortable. Furthermore, the makers of this car were classy enough to put some real wood all over the place and that added more enough style than you can ever handle.

As I have been stressing all along, the great thing about the Escalade is the number of people that can be accommodated inside all at once which totals to eight and that even excludes the driver. The entertainment system of this car though is far from fantastic although with the car’s triple-climate system, the electronic goodies are nonetheless superb. Overall, I suppose this car is worth every cent that you will pay for it.

2008 Lincoln Navigator

Price: 48000 USD

The best challenger for the Cadillac Escalade is obviously this one coming from the turf of Lincoln. The Lincoln Navigator has a 300 horsepower capacity that it gets from its 5.4 liter engine. The makers of this car are smart enough to make sure that all wheels will not lose track especially if road conditions become too tough. Meanwhile, looking at the car’s exterior is pretty much seeing what Lincoln has been doing all these years. It has a massive chrome grille and it makes the car stand out needless to say.

The car is a bit bigger than its Cadillac counterpart and when you breakdown the car’s interior, all of the parts are simple yet very functional. The Lincoln Navigator is needless to say extremely spacious. Surprisingly, because there are few gadgets inside of the car, the Navigator has more space compared to its Escalade counterpart. The sound system of the Lincoln Navigator is way better while it also costs 10000 USD less than the Escalade.

Overall, the price tells me that the Cadillac is the better car although when you look at the features, the Escalade clearly outguns the latter in just about every department. The things that the Escalade can offer can be remedied by upgrading the Navigator so I would have to give my vote to it.
