Clothes that don’t Sweat

4 06 2008

Sweating is a great thing especially if you’re under the sun and having fun playing the sport that you love. However, it becomes entirely different when you start donning your office attire and you’re on your way to an important meeting. No man wants to report for work looking like he just came out of the gym and being covered in sweat. There’s really nothing we men can do about sweating because we’re genetically programmed to discharge more of this liquid compared to our female counterparts. The good news is that we can do something about your clothes that would prevent those unsightly sweat-marks on them.

1.Use Deodorants

This might seem pretty obvious but then again never settle for cheap products out there that are not as effective. Also, there are special pads available that have been soaked in antiperspirant substances that you can put on your underarms. These things can serve as barrier between you and the clothes preventing the latter from getting really wet when you perspire.

2.Take Note of your Shoes

If you’re rubber-shoes-kinda-guy then all you have to do is wear thick socks that absorb sweat off your feet. On a different note, if you like strutting leather shoes that wouldn’t be a problem since they’re meant to prevent as much sweat as possible. Additionally, don’t use the same pair everyday in order to give it time to breathe and air out. One of the major faux pas of men when it comes to foot hygiene is when they reuse socks and that’s one way of contracting fungal infection without any effort. Make sure to replace used socks with new ones.

3. Clothes Soaking

If you’re one of those people who sweat a lot even with minimal movement the best way to prevent that is to soak your clothes in very cold water. Also, to remove the sweat stain, apply the remover in and out of the fabric to make sure that nothing is left behind.

4.Layering?

Most people would never consider layering especially if the weather is hot and if they’re from the sweaty variety. Actually smart layering can do the trick and to do this wear an undershirt under your office attire. This creates a barrier between your main clothing and your body hence preventing sweat stains. Also when choosing the undershirt, make sure that it doesn’t stand out more than your main apparel.

5.Use a Fabric Softener

Men cringe at the thought of washing their own clothes but as far as I’m concerned, no one knows what you wear other than you. These days, it is no longer enough to make sure that your clothes are well-ironed and pleasant-smelling because it has also become imperative to use fabric softener. To use a fabric softener, don’t apply it directly on your clothes but rather mix it with the water that you’ll use for rinsing out the soap out of them. This will ensure a better smell and softer feel once you put your clothes on.

6.Wear Light

Hot days require you to wear light fabrics and colors in order to minimize sweating. Also, it’s prescribed that you prefer natural fabric over synthetic ones since the former allows your skin to breather more which means you will be sweating less. When it comes to color, avoid wearing black because it absorbs more thermal energy compared to other colors which means you’ll be sweating more than what you want.

Despite of it being part of normal body functions, sweating doesn’t look good especially if you’re about to attend a meeting or even when you’re on your way to a date. Sweating means that you’re tense and untidy and not to mention it accompanies a rather bad smell that can turn off anyone.
