Tattoos From Hell

27 09 2008

Tattoos are meant to signify something, whether it’s your passion or simply to show off, tattoos make a huge difference. But the thing is, why settle for the most common themes that can make you look like a real jerk? Here are some of the tattoos that every man should never have.

10. The Superhero Tattoo

Superman is great, Spiderman is slick, and Iron Man can make a million dollars in just a week in the box office. However, displaying these superheroes on your chest or biceps does not make you cool but worse, you’re a kid who has never grown up at all. To make a better alternative, why not put your family’s emblem and display it to everyone else? For sure your ancestors are going to be proud of you.

9. A Mythological Animal

If you’re just out of the prison, a mythical animal does not matter. However, if you want a significant emblem that will signify your beliefs, forget about it. It’s simply childish and outlandish instead, go for a lion or if you’re a real geek, a T-Rex.

8.Anchor

If you’re not a pirate or a naval person, there’s no way that an anchor should be imprinted on your body. The worse thing is, some people have this tattoo without even knowing how to swim. A better alternative is something that is related to your profession. For example, if you’re a lawyer, lady justice would do just fine. If you’re a stock trader, a bull tattoo definitely is a good choice. Lastly, if you’re a construction worker, a sledge hammer is pretty nifty.

7.An Icon

If you think that a Che Guevarra face is the most important face in the world, you’re probably half right. However, if you want that same face on any part of your body, that’s plain and simple ridiculous. The truth is, faces of real people just end up looking like idiotic caricatures on the skin. And that’s true, if the tattoo artist isn’t that good.

6.Allusion to Pop Culture

Tattoos such as LMAO, LOL, OMG or even I CAN HAS CHEESEBURGER can definitely make anyone laugh. The sad thought is, you will be committed to it for a life and that means, it will only fade away and be replaced by new ones. Instead, try quotes from sport figures, writers, and historians. These quotes’ messages are eternal and remind you all the time of some things that you should consider.

5.An Animated Character

Bugs Bunny and Sylvester the cat are great iconic characters that may have provided you with tons of entertainment when you were growing up. However, putting them on your shoulder blades will turn off women than you can ever have imagined. And you have to admit that you’re old enough to have a family and go to war, so just grow up.

4.A Barbed Wire

Back in the 80’s the barbed wire tattoo was the real thing. Two decades later, I don’t think it still rings a bell as it used to. The fact is, the idea of a barbed wire insignia is old and archaic so just drop the whole idea. A better alternative would be a roundabout text like a quote or an advice from your forefather.

3.A Chinese Symbol

Just like the Chinese, these Chinese tattoos are everywhere and with the rate that Mandarin is being spoken in the world today, I don’t think there’s still anything unique about having Chinese tattoos. A better alternative would be something from a Meso-American culture or Egyptian hieroglyphics that say something about peace and understanding. Now that’s nifty.

2.Your Wife’s Name

I know you love your wife but the truth is, what if you guys suddenly call it quits? Well that’s gonna be a big problem. Also, you can show your love by simply being loyal, considerate and understandable and most women are pretty ok with that. Instead, put your son’s or daughter’s name so you’ll remind yourself that you’ll be a great parent and you’ll do your best just for them.

1.Something on your face

Mike Tyson has one and aside from being a feared boxer, he’s not known to be a very good citizen at all. The thing is, you’re not going to work in a freak show right? If you’re a working professional, then a tattoo on your face will only scare away your boss or worse, future employers.

Car Review: Lotus Elise Sport

23 09 2008

The Elise was initially introduced way back in 1996. This exotic car stayed many years in Europe because its dimensions were not allowed in the United States of America. However, things looked bright for this car when the new Lotus Elise Sport was finally released. The new version was tinkered and had a facelift, and it was specifically built to compete against the ultra-competitive American market.

The Car

The car has a humble 1.8 liter engine that a lot of cars like what the Toyota Corolla has. However, the Lotus Elise Sport is just under 2,000 lbs. and that made the whale of a difference when it comes to its street performance. The car is surprisingly fast because it can reach the 60-mile barrier in only 4.7 seconds and it can release as much as 189 horsepower. The Lotus Elise Sport is also a serious speedster, because very few cars with its engine can go as fast as 150 mph in an open freeway.

The great thing about the Lotus Elise Sport is its sticker price, which is pegged around 43,000 USD. That’s still a bit pricey, but if you compare it to other exotic cars like a Lamborghini, Ferrari or Reventon, you’re getting a huge bargain no doubt.

Performance

The Lotus Elise Sport features impressive suspension system upgrades that include Ohlin shock absorbers. With that being said, driving the Lotus Elise Sport is effortless, although you need to be quiet lanky in order to fit inside this car. The Lotus Elise Sport does not have enough space to fit several people. Although when it comes to protection, its lightweight carbon-fiber frame makes it a tough customer during road collisions. When it comes to skin-deep beauty, the Lotus Elise Sport certainly has it. It’s great to look at and it has more than enough speed that you need for your daily driving.

The Practicality

It took quite a while before the Lotus Elise Sport made it to the American market. The truth is, it’s perfectly the car that you need if you want to look good out on the street. In addition to that, it’s also extremely easy to drive, although its downside is its rather limited luggage space. The Lotus Elise Sport only has a grand total of four cubic feet of space for your stuff. So if you plan to go out of town, this isn’t really the car that you would want to bring.

The fact is, the Lotus Elise Sport is all about driving without the unwanted weight. It does not have enough space for both people and baggage that can affect the whole experience of bringing this on the road. However, if there’s one good reason of buying this, it is because this car is extremely fuel efficient. Unlike other sport cars, the Lotus Elise Sport can extend a gallon of fuel to 22 miles in the city. When it comes to the highway the Lotus Elise Sport needs at least 29 miles, before emptying a gallon of gasoline. I know the price is no longer an issue if you can afford this ride, but then again, having a fuel-efficient fuel car won’t hurt, does it?

Without a doubt, the Lotus Elise Sport is a bachelor’s car because of its solid lines and slick contours. Moreover, this car is built to race that’s why it would be such a waste if you’re going to bring it to where traffic jams usually happen. At less than 50,000 dollars, this car is a solid steal and you’ll surely have a great feeling just knowing that you have this parked in your garage.

Car Review: The Rolls-Royce Phantom

19 09 2008

Costing at around 340000 USD, it is no wonder that only a handful can own something as luxurious as a Rolls-Royce Phantom. There’s no doubt about the quality of the Rolls-Royce Phantom, but the question is, can it meet the expectations that we have set out for a car such as this?

The Car

Doing things the first time around is something that you’ll never forget. The truth is, getting inside the Rolls-Royce Phantom evokes the same emotions. The Rolls-Royce Phantom looks like a menacing and intimidating vehicle from afar. Without a doubt, this car has massive dimensions and it is even equipped with cameras that will aid you in parking it.

The exterior of the Rolls-Royce Phantom is characterized by solid aluminum lines that make the whole car extremely attractive. When you go to the front, you can clearly see its popular radiator grille and huge wheels that lay flat on the ground with authority.

The Interior

The cabin of the Rolls-Royce Phantom is what makes this beast a comfortable abode if you can call it that way. It has fine wood, leather, wool carpets, and chrome instrument panel knobs. The ergonomics of this car is better than anything I have ever seen in previous generations and that’s saying a lot. Aside from the hi-tech cameras and parking sensors, this car treats you with its battalion of multi-media artillery such as climate control, DVD entertainment system, navigation system, and the Lexicon surround-sound system.

Lastly, this car provides instant comfort that can make you sleep instantly. The doors can be automatically open and closed and you can do that by simply touching a button. When it comes to the engine, the Rolls-Royce Phantom has a gigantic 6.75 liter, 48-valve engine that can summon as much as 453 horsepower from its powerful valves. Despite of this car’s mass, it can cruise to 60 miles in only 5.7 seconds, while reaching a top speed of 149 mph in an open runway.

The Practicality

We all know that the Rolls-Royce Phantom has superior technology that anyone can drool at. However, a lot still has to be improved when you tall about its practical benefits. The Rolls-Royce Phantom though is a safe car to drive because even if gets hit, its massive three-ton weight is good enough to protect anyone who is inside.

Also it has anti-lock brakes and a complete set of airbags that can make anyone feel at ease no matter how fast it will get on the road. However, just like most supercars, the Rolls-Royce Phantom can only go as far as 13 miles in the city and 19 miles in the highway per gallon of fuel.

Overall, the Rolls-Royce Phantom is great car in and out. It’s a bit expensive though, but when it comes to luxury and practicality, this car is surprisingly good.

Car Review: Aston Martin DB5

18 09 2008

Aston Martin is arguably one of the most popular cars out there. Its popularity can be traced to the endless James Bond flicks that flooded the cinemas for decades. The DB5 is a little bit stronger than the DB4 and just a tad good looking as well. The DB5 is pegged around 150,000 USD and even if it wasn’t James Bond’s car, the Aston Martin DB5 is a great car without a doubt.

The Car

The Aston Martin DB5 is the automobile choice for a lot of gentlemen. It offers low-back leather seats provide enough comfort for the driver and passengers. Also, its wood-rimmed steering wheel is something that can blow you away once you see it. The exterior of the Aston Martin DB5 offers super straight lines, with loads of chrome that adds to its dash and style.

Interior

The Aston Martin DB5 is without a doubt, a car that everyone can appreciate and would love to own and drive. It has a massive 4.0 liter Tadek Marek straight-six engine that can generate as much as 282 horsepower. Another impressive feature is its top speed that is pegged around 143 mph and acceleration, which is believed to reach as fast as 8.1 seconds in 60 miles.

Essentially, the Aston Martin DB5 is a solid choice considering how much prestige it brings to the table. The question now is, is it practical?

Practicality

The truth about the Aston Martin DB5 is that you need an Aston Martin technician if you want to maintain this car in its tip-top shape. The great thing about the Aston Martin DB5 is that it’s a joy once other people recognize what kind of car you’re driving. The Aston Martin DB5 is part of popular culture and because of that a lot of people are drawn to this car no matter how young or old.

On a different note, if you want to make the most out of your experience as an Aston Martin DB5 owner, you need to join a club of owners whose passion is all about this car. With this, you can get invaluable insights and advice about how to properly take care of such a vehicle.

Conclusion

Overall, owning an Aston Martin DB5 should be thought as carefully as possible. If you have the cash, then go for it and the fact is, any man would love to have an Aston Martin parked neatly in his garage.

How Not to be a Workaholic

6 09 2008

Most corporations give a lot of incentives to industrious people. However, the working world is no doubt excessively competitive, and most people end up putting more hours in the office than they are supposed to. The thing though is that, everybody knows that overworking has disastrous consequences that can affect both of your family and health. Here are a few steps that you can do so you can take your life back and focus on its important aspects.

1. Tell your Boss

Sometimes, all it takes to tone down your working life is talking to your boss. Most bosses are far from being tyrants, and if you think you can work out a more feasible schedule so you can focus more on your family, go ahead.

2.What are your goals?

Getting stuck in a 9-5 job for a couple of years is not something that everybody would want. The thing is, are you really doing what you are doing right because that’s what you want to do? If your plan is to just save enough so you can put up your own business in the future, then I don’t think you should be burning your life away in front of your monitor. If your plan is to incorporate your work and personal life together, then it’s time to re-evaluate your priorities now.

3.Don’t work at home

When all you can talk about is your work even in front of your family, there’s something terribly wrong that demands immediate attention. Always remember that your home is your haven and this is where you relax by spending time with your family. Although it’s sometimes inevitable that you end up answering phone calls even while at home, minimize them as much as possible.

4.Fix your relationships

If you have been neglecting your life out of the office because of so much work, then this is the right time to fix it. Spend at least 20 minutes of quality time with your family and make sure that your attention is on them and not your recent project.

5.Have a Hobby

Your quality of life should never suffer just because you have so many things to do at work. During weekends, take up a hobby that can make you sweat or something that you’ve always wanted for years. If you’ve always wanted to learn how to play the violin or cook, now is the time to further improve you repertoire of skills.

6.Stick to your Commitments

If you haven’t seen your best buddy for a couple of months because of conflicting schedules, then it’s time that you go out of your way so you can see each other again. Stick to your planned schedule and if it takes you to be absent for a day at work, use it.

7.Exercise

It’s not surprising that most office workers don’t get enough exercise. If years of sitting in front of the computer have made your life too sedentary, then better start working out before it’s too late. Exercising enhances your self-esteem and aside from that, it makes your body healthier. However, if you’re too busy to exercise even on weekdays, make sure that you have some time on weekends for a strenuous workout.

8.Eat and Sleep

Work is rarely fun that’s why skipping your sleep and diet just for it is never going to be worth it. Having a healthy diet gives you the nourishment to handle the tough day ahead, while sleeping right gives your body the opportunity to rest.

If you’re someone who always has a tendency for perfection and micromanaging, there’s nothing wrong with it. However, your personal life should always be your priority when push comes to shove. Your company can always get someone to do the job but your family won’t be able to find a replacement for you.

POKER Strategy

4 09 2008

At autopartswarehouse.com, all of us play poker and uses the best poker strategy.

What is the best poker strategy? Online poker is complex. It’s complex, not because of its rules, but because of its variables: human behavior and ever-changing odds. There’s no doubt that luck plays a major role in short term poker success but over the long run, poker is certainly a game of skill. Like any classic game of skill, poker demands study and practice from those who want to achieve mastery.

Here are some the basic building blocks of a good poker strategy:

To have a good poker strategy, a poker player should have a conscious or unconscious understanding of odds and expectation. Of course, these numbers are not often as clear-cut as in other casino games. It’s likely that you would have to work with the numbers mechanically before they become second nature to you.

Pot odds are really just another way of looking at expectation. It compares the amount of money in the pot to the amount of money you would have put in to continue playing. It helps answer the eternal question in poker strategy: “Is it worth it to continue in this hand?” To answer that, you always have to have a sense of card odds. Lets say the pot contains $100 and you need to put in $10 to continue playing. The pot odds are 10 – 1. If you have a better chance of winning than that, it’s worth calling. When the card odds are better than the pot odds, it makes good poker strategy sense to get out. Have a 25-1 chance of getting that inside straight? Time to fold.

A bad poker strategy is to play too many hands. Most players play way too many hands. You will win more by folding more often. This sort of discipline is difficult for the recreational player. If you read the experts’ books, you’ll see how they preach patience and discipline, and you’ll be shocked by how many hands they say to throw away. Particularly in casinos, you have to play tight – there are more players at the tables and thus less of a chance that you’ll have the best hand.

Another good poker strategy is to note that the bluff is not as key an element of the game as you may think. Clever deception has its manifold pleasures, but it shouldn’t be done indiscriminately. As part of your poker strategy, you can use the concept of pot odds to guide your bluffing. An occasional, not-too-costly “discovered bluff” (one that doesnt work) may also help you win bigger pots in later hands. Players may think you are a ‘bluffer’ and stay in when you actually do have a good hand.

For the player seeking a profit, a good poker game is not one where titans of equal strength square off against each other. The law of the jungle rules the poker table. The secret of winning money consistently is to find games with players who play worse than you do. Successful players need weak players who obviously allow their money to be siphoned away by strong players. Guilt does not pay in poker, guile does, so make it a part of your strategy.

These are but a few poker strategy tips. In the long run, you have control of your own poker fate. Stay calm, dont play wildly and desperately and you should be alright.

Omaha Hi
Omaha Hi is a variation of Texas Hold’em. Every player is dealt four cards face down instead of two, which allows for a lot more possibilities, and increases the overall strength of most winning hands.

Omaha Hi-Lo
Omaha Hi-Lo is more popular than Omaha Hi, and most popular in it’s pot limit form. It’s a split pot game, meaning half of the pot goes to the high hand, and half to the low hand. Like Omaha Hi, every player is dealt four cards face down, followed by five community cards dealt face up.

7 Card Stud
7 card stud is the most popular version of stud poker, and is the most commonly played game in households worldwide. Every player is dealt a total of seven cards, three face down, and four face up.

7 Card Stud 8/B
7 card stud eights or better, also known as 7 card stud hi lo, is a split pot game, where half the pot goes to the high hand, and half to the low hand. As in regular 7 card stud, every player is dealt a total of seven cards, three of them face down, and the other four face up.

Razz
Razz is 7 card stud where the best low hand wins. As in regular 7 card stud, every player is dealt a total of seven cards, three of them face down, and the other four face up.

Classic Car Watch: 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO

3 09 2008

Ferrari is renowned for perfection and back in the 60s none embodied it other than a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. There are so many things that can be said when it comes to this car, although it is best remembered for its fantastic form and function. The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO once dominated the most elite races in the past and after its domination, it has become a sort of an icon. Many automotive experts agree that this automobile is arguably the greatest that was ever made. It combines great styling and exemplary performance that few can parallel. Since 1962, only 39 models have been made and in 1997, one of its chassis types was sold for more than nine million dollars.

Performance

Without a doubt, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO is one of the epitomes of unbelievable craftsmanship and that can be attributed to the things that are under its hood. This Ferrari vehicle featured a Tipo 168/62 Degree V12 engine that was capable of producing as much as 320 horsepower. Moreover, it can reach a top speed of 174 mph while it can get to 60 miles in only 6.1 seconds. The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO may not be new, but it can certainly compete even with the best sport cars of today.

History

The history of the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO started through the creation of the 250 Gran Turismo Omologato. This was the car that provided the GTO its chassis, engine, and body. It took several years before the final 250 GTO was completed and when it was done, everybody had nothing but praises for the said vehicle. Gioto Bizzarrini was told by Ferrari to work on a new supercar and he did it by tinkering with his old 250 Boano chassis. However, Bizzarrini left Ferrari together with other colleagues in order to establish his own company. That move left Girolamo Gardini to finish the whole process although he only had to finish what Bizzarrini had already started. In 1962, Ferrari was finally able to complete the first Ferrari 250 GTO that looked and performed as advertised.

Legacy

The Ferrari 250 GTO was dubbed the “Testa Rossa with a roof” because it looked like the 250 Testa Rossa in many aspects. However, the main difference was apparent in the engine, because the Ferrari 250 GTO is stronger and faster. Over the years, the chassis of the Ferrari 250 GTO was outfitted with small bracing tubes, front brakes, stiffer suspension, and lower drive line. The interior of this car is rather bland but nonetheless purposeful. After a very rich history in the race track, the Ferrari 250 GTO’s market value skyrocketed because of how rare it has become. Ferrari only made 36 of this car, making it not only rare but high-performance as well. In the 80’s, one Ferrari 250 GTO was sold as much as two million dollars, setting the barometer for future transactions of the said model.

Performance in Competitions

Without a doubt, the Ferrari 250 GTO demolished every competition that it joined. In the 60s, the said supercar finished 3rd and 5th respectively at the Le Mans competition. After that, the Ferrari 250 GTO was able to win three World Manufacturer’s Championships in 1962, 1963, and 1964.

The Ferrari 250 GTO is definitely one can definitely be proud no matter how young or old he or she can be. These days, this car model inspired so many other manufacturers to mimic its style and performance. If there was any car that can represent the 60s as a decade, it’s no doubt this car can do the job.
